News & Info from Chatel & the Portes du Soleil

La Rentree

September 15, 2008

Well, summer’s over and Joseph is back at school after 2 months off. We had a busy time with lots of guests over June, July and August and the weather was fantastic too.  I was able to take Joseph swimming at the outdoor pool in Chatel 2 or 3 times a week, so he progressed from 1 width to 16 lengths!  With an autumnal feel in the air our thoughts turn to winter preparations - the logs are stacked, the oil delivered and the chimney sweep is booked.  Bookings are looking good, our staff are ready and we know from experience that the next couple of months will fly by and we’ll soon be looking to the skies for that first snow!

Pass’Portes du Soleil MTB Festival 2009

The  dates have been released for next years Passportes du Soleil mountain biking event and they are the 28th and 29th June 2009.

Again more than 3500 riders will take part in the amazing event. To see more details go to http://www.portesdusoleil.com/en_summer/Events/themtbpassportesdusoleil.html

Winter season 08/09 dates

Chatel has confirmed that the resort will open for the winter 0809 season on 13th December and close around 26th April, (snow conditions permitting of course!) - another great long season to look forward to.

New for winter 0809 - new lift pass option

Over the coming few weeks we will post all the news as we get it about whats new in Chatel and the Portes du Soleil for this winter. The first bit of news is a new non consecutive pass for 6 1/2 days. Chatel has always offered a 5 day non consecutive pass but for winter 08/09 a 6 1/2 day pass is now available. If you would like more info email us at enquiries@mountainairholidays.co.uk.

Where are they now?

September 5, 2008

Following 2 great seasons looking after guests staying at Chalet Les 2 Vallees Sue, Dave and the guitar have sadly returned to Ireland to real life, real money and normal jobs however don’t be suprised if you see them again - I have a little suspicion they will be back in Chatel the future. After their secondment to Chatel for the winter 07/08 season Ian & Jane have returned to there previous roles in the UK running the Mountain Air Holidays UK office, and when they have time and are not injured, doing a bit of work for the Staffordshire Fire Service! And finally following a year out in Chatel looking after our self catered clients Fleur has also returned to nomallity back in the UK.

Summer season comes to an end and winter preparations begin!

With just a few weeks left of the summer season here in Chatel things are slowly winding down after a busy few months. The weather this summer has been superb and we are now looking forward to a warm dry Autumn. As the summer comes to an end we now begin preparations for the winter including rennovations on the chalets, staff training and recruitment. Bookings are coming in thick and fast we are already getting excited.
