We have seen some glorious weather during January and early February with good snow conditions and loads of sunshine. Despite the long period of dry weather the snow conditions around Linga, Pre La Joux and Avoriaz has remained very good.
The sunshine has now disappeared today to be replaced by fresh snow overnight and this morning. We have around 80cm at 1800 metres and more snow forecast this week. This means great conditions for the Half Term week.
if you are still looking to go skiing this season we still have some catered and self catered availability from 26th / 27th March and for Easter.

The British Journal of sports medicine this year reviewed a range of articles studying whether wearing a helmet for skiing and snowboarding cuts the risk of head, neck and spine injuries - and found strong evidence that it does. Whats more there was nothing to back up the claim that helmet wearing leads to more spine and neck injuries. (article in Dec issue of ski & snowboard magazine)
At Mountain Air holidays we fully support the idea of wearing a helmet for both adults and children. This year for all guests pre booking their equipment hire with us they will not only receive a 10% discount but also FREE rental of a helmet with their skis and boots!

The first snow of the winter arrived in Chatel mid October and more has followed over the last couple of weeks. The weather pattern in prevous winters suggests we should now expect a spell of dry cold weather which freezes the ground, ideal for preparing a long lasting solid snow base.
Since flights have been released into Geneva and the arrival of the first snow bookings have been coming in thick and fast. We now have only limited availability for this winter in our catered chalets, so if you are looking to go skiing this season please get in touch as soon as possible. We still have good self catered availability in our lovely 4 bedroom Chatel du Caire.

Its that time of year in Chatel when preparations really begin for the winter season. The colder weather across Europe this weekend has even brought some snow to the valley, a little early, but a clear sign that winter is not that far away. We are currently renovating some of our bedrooms and bathrooms in Chalet des Arbres creating more space for our guests for this winter and bookings are looking good, with Christmas, New Year and Feb Half Term all now fully booked. You can check out the latest availability for our catered and self catered chalets following this link. http://mountainairholidays.co.uk/accommodation.htm
