Facilities For Children In Chatel
There are a wide range of facilities and services for families and children in Chatel, both around the resort and within our chalets. We have detailed below a range of facilities on offer around the resort and services that we offer or can pre book for you.
Sledging RunsThe resort has built a free sledging area located at Pré-la-Joux, made up of two separate and safe sledging runs: one for 2 to 6-year-olds and the other for children aged 6 and over, a themed and play path and a game area. A place where all the family will enjoy playing together in the snow. You can also go to sledge on Super-Châtel sledging run or in the Loy area just a few hundred metres from our catered chalets.

Le Mouflets CrecheLes Mouflets crèche is situated right in the centre of Chatel; it caters for children 3 months to 6 years. It is possible to book mornings or afternoons with or without lunch or all day sessions. The staff are all very professional and friendly and most speak English. For childcare during the daytime this is a service we highly recommend.

Ski Schools for ChildrenWe will offer advice and pre book all lessons for children for you. There are 6 ski schools in Chatel which offer children from 3 years old a wide range of courses and lessons including mornings or an all day “Kids club”.
Le Village des Marmottons is a children’s ski school where the emphasis is on learning to ski, but with a large element of outdoor play and fun. Located just a few hundred yards from our catered chalets and run by ESF this ski school caters for children from 3 to 6 years of age and is open all day 8.30am until 5.30pm. We also have a very good international ski school that provides morning or afternoon group ski lessons for children from 4 years old in a maximum group of 6 children. ESI International Ski School
Tots Taxi Service - to maximise mum and dad’s time on the slopes we are pleased to offer guests in our catered chalets in Chatel the Tots Taxi Service. If you have children at Les Mouflets crèche or Marmottons for the mornings with lunch, you can pre-book the tots taxi and we will collect your children and bring them to meet you at a pre-arranged meeting point. The daily charge for this service is 20€.
Private ChildcareNanny Service - There are limited options at the moment in Chatel for private nannies. Jack Frosts offer a very limited service in Chatel, you can contact them direct here. jack frosts.net
Evening Baby-sitting - Please let us know if you would like an evening baby-sitter during your week and we will try our best to accommodate any requests.
There are also many more facilities in the resort offering a great variety of activites for children of all ages including dedicated sledging areas, ice skating, Le Petit Train, roundabout and childrens shows - plenty to keep them busy!
Family PlusChatel is now recognized as a great family ski resort and has recently been awarded the “The Family Plus” label.
Family Plus is a national tourism label awarded to approve the level of facilities and services available to families and children staying in the resort and is recognized by the French Ministry of Tourism.
To qualify for this label, the resort had to be able to fulfill almost 110 requirements in the following categories:
• Infrastructure and information • Resort Entertainment • Activities • The discovery of the environment and mountain heritage • Accommodation and restaurant facilities • Amenities, transport and safety.
