Latest News From ChatelSummer in the Alps is now well under way, the weather has been pretty kind to us so far with many warm dry sunny days and just a few thunder storms from time to time to keep things cool. Various big summer mountain biking events have already come and gone and were extremely successful including the 5th Passporte du Soleil race and the "Face" freestyle competition. Bastille day was again a great celebration and the Montreux Jazz Festival ends this weekend. Although we have several more weeks of the summer to go our thoughts are already turning to the winter season, bookings and enquiries are coming in thick and fast as many low cost ailines release flights for this winter.
Summer Holidays in ChatelThere are so many activities to choose from for the whole family. Here are just a few things that you can do this summer.
Walking & Hiking - Guided or self guided walks around the Portes du Soleil are a must for any keen walker. From a tour of the Portes du Soleil to lake walks with your family or hiking up nearby peaks, the Portes du Soleil has more than 800km of signposted paths to explore. A task made even easier thanks to the 24 lifts in operation during the summer.

Mountain Biking - A mountain biker's paradise - 12 downhill runs, 5 "shore" areas, 1 slopestyle, a kids zone and foam pit. And that's just in Chatel; add the rest of what the PDS offers Mountain Bikers and there is no place better.

Sightseeing - There are some beautiful places to visit around this area of France and Switzerland. As well as many pretty local villages, the nearby Lake side towns of Annecy, Montreux, and Evian are well worth a visit.
Water Sports - White Water Rafting, Hydrospeed, Canyoning, Swimming, Fishing and boats trips around Lake Geneva; if you like the water there are plenty of options to choose from.
Evian Masters Golf - The Evian Masters is a great tournament on the LPGA tour, it runs from the 24th - 27th July at the nearby Evian Golf Club. Michelle Wie and Annika Sorenstam will again be competing in this famous event. If you fancy playing this Championship course the green fees at Evian are very reasonabale. There is an outstanding selection of great courses around this area of France and Switzerland all within easy reach of Chatel.
